Phycocyanobilin synthesis operon
This operon contains the coding regions of heme oxigenase (ho1) BBa_I15008 and ferredoxin oxireductase (PcyA) BBa_I15009 with strong ribosomal binding site BBa_B0034 and under control of a medium constitutively active promoter BBa_J23108.
ho1 and PcyA are enzymes from Synechocystis that facilitate the synthesis of Phycocyanobilin from heme.
Phycocyanobilin functions as the chromophore for the red light sensitive protein Cph1 (and also for the fusion protein Cph8 BBa_I15010)
