Applications of BBa_K538204

The developers of this brick used it to characterise how expression of the coding region (BBa_K538004) incorporated in this part influences the cold resistance of E. coli, looking at 1) it's ability to survive freeze/thaw cycles, and 2) whether or not expression of CspC allows E. coli to maintain a higher growth rate at suboptimal temperatures. Literature reports of CspC expression enhancing freeze/thaw cycle survival rate in E. coli have been confirmed. Unfortunately, no significant effect of CspC expression was observed in relation to E. coli 's specific growth rate at suboptimal temperatuers.
