A 450nm light control system in E.coli
Usage
BIT-China team's 2023 IGEM project "Light's control iT" is to be able to control the ratio of sclareol and santalol arbitrarily under the condition of light control in S. cerevisiae, so we designed an interesting light control element, which is the most critical light control part.
Biology
In E.coli, the constitutive promoter initiates so that the downstream el222 gene is expressed, then the photosensitive transcription factor EL222 is generated. Under 450 nm light condition, the photosensitive transcription factor EL222 undergoes homodimerization and then binds to the PBLind sequence, which activates the transcription and expression of the downstream target gene.
