The PTEF1 promoter

Usage

PTEF1 is a strong constitutive promoter. As a constitutive promoter, PTEF1 can efficiently initiate the expression of the downstream el222 gene, thus initiating the operation of the entire blue-light-controlled system. Additionally, PTEF1 can directly activate the expression of genes associated with santalol synthesis.


Biology

PTEF1, compared with another strong constitutive promoter, the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase promoter (pGAP).PTEF1 has been found to exhibit favorable peryieldance in high-glucose environments and under carbon restriction conditions, resulting in similar or even higher expression levels of recombinant proteins[1]. Notably, PTEF1 operates as a constitutive promoter and does not require inducers. The study suggests that PTEF1 offers a wider range of production conditions and more straightforward expression methods than PGAP. Therefore, PTEF1 is an excellent choice for expressing exogenous gene in Pichia Pastoris for industrial applications.
