P2 Promoter
The P2 promoter is a promoter region in the agr system from Staphylococcus aureus. AIP detection with the agr system promotes transcription of genes downstream of the P2 promoter. Promoter activity is encouraged by the AgrA protein and enhanced by SarA.
This part is a modification of the existing BioBrick BBa_I746104. While the BBa_I746104 sequence contains the P2 promoter sites, the intergenic sequence is missing. This sequence contains a second SarA binding site and two AgrA binding sites, which may affect the expression of genes downstream of the promoter. This part reintroduces the bases missing in the intergenic sequence.
