AgrA
AgrA is a response regulator protein native to Staphylococcus aureus. It is a component of the accessory gene regulator (agr) system, which is responsible for quorum sensing in response to an autoinducing peptide (AIP). The AgrA protein is phosphorylated by the membrane protein AgrC, which then activates transcription of genes under the influence of P1, P2, and P3 promoters.
This part modifies the sequence of a subunit in an existing BioBrick, BBa_I746100. The AgrA sequence upon which BBa_I746100 was based differs from the UniProt sequence for AgrA, missing the first 30 amino acids. This AgrA sequence includes these 30 amino acids at the N-terminus of the peptide.
