AgrC
AgrC is a membrane-bound protein native to Staphylococcus aureus. It is a component of the accessory gene regulator (agr) system, which is responsible for quorum sensing in response to an autoinducing peptide (AIP). The AgrC protein interacts with AIP, triggering an agr-dependent response through phosphorylation of the next intermediate, AgrA.
This part modifies the sequence of a subunit in an existing BioBrick, BBa_I746100. The AgrC sequence upon which BBa_I746100 was based differs from the UniProt sequence for AgrC, missing the first 16 amino acids. This AgrC sequence includes these 16 amino acids at the N-terminus of the peptide.
