Anti-plasmodium peptide MP2
Salivary gland and midgut peptide.It blocks ookinete invasion of the midgut epithelium or sporozoite invasion of the salivary gland epithelium.We use it to inhibit plasmodium development in mosquito.
Usage and Biology
The mechanism is to bind with a universal mosquito midgut receptor to competitively inhibit the plasmodium. The parasites must bind with the receptor on midgut cells for further development.
