Linker with amino acid sequence GGYLPGGGDVGR used to create single chain insulin

Description:

This linker was used in place of the C chain of Proinsulin to form single-chain insulin. Specifically, fast acting single chain insulin (BBa_K2958008). The protein sequence for this linker is GGYLPGGGDVGR. When combined with the A & B chains of proinsulin, the PI of the insulin protein is 5.50, as determined by Serial Cloner. This linker is one of many non-patented linkers listed in the journal article, "Single-Chain Insulins as Receptor Agonists" by Rajpal et al (2009).
