Usage
ATP5B-MTS is an essential part in our group. It is mitochondrial targeting signal derived from ATP5B, a 53 amino acid long peptide that directs a synthesized Cas9 protein to the mitochondria. It is found at the N-terminus end consists of an alternating pattern of hydrophobic and positively charged amino acids to form what is called an amphipathic helix. ATP5B can contain additional signals that subsequently target the protein to different regions of the mitochondria, such as the mitochondrial matrix.
