Aflatoxin B1 Biosensor Repressor Component

This part is the repressor component of the UGA iGEM Team's Aflatoxin B1 Biosensor. The two-component biosensor is based on of a riboswitch design where this repressor acts bind to the expressor component, which fluoresces in the presence of Aflatoxin B1. This repressor is composed of a promoter, an anti-RBS site, aflatoxin B1 aptameric sequence, and RNase E sites. This part works to bind to the RBS site of the expressor so that GFP is not expressed normally. In the presence of Aflatoxin B1, this part will theoretically bind preferentially to Aflatoxin B1 rather than to the expressor. This part has been tested to repress and bind specifically to the expressor. This part works as an aptameric repressor for an Aflatoxin B1 biosensor.
