Stop Beta-Lactamase (L79*)
Coding sequence of the beta-lactamase originated from pSB1AK3. An artificial stop-codon was introduced via site directed mutagenesis (T297A). Additionally it carries a silent mutation at C132T.
This part can be used to quantify mutation rates. By using an in vivo mutagenesis system ampicillin resistance can be restored. By adding ampicillin to culture containing mutants, the revertants can be analyzed and the mutation rate calculated.
Characterization was done as a Device in BBa_K2082152.
