c-Myc special internal domain (EQKLISEEDL)
This is a c-Myc tag special internal domain designed to be within a protein. c-Myc tags are a type of affinity tag that can be used to purify and/or measure the quantity of proteins.
Usage and Biology
The c-myc tag can be used at the N- or C-terminus or even internal to proteins. The c-myc-tag has been used in western blots, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry, and affinity purification. Proteins with the c-myc-tag can be affinity-purified by coupling the murin anti-c-myc antibody 9E10 to divinyl sulphone -activated agarose. Note that the low pH elution conditions used during affinity purification may impact protein properties and that the matrix can not be reused efficiently. Thus, c-myc-tags are more commonly used for protein detection rather than purification.
