stress-inducible promoter (rd29A)
This is the promoter for the DREB1A gene. DREB1A is a transcription factor the production of which induces the hyperexpression of genes involved in environmental stress tolerance (thus far in plants) and thus improves drought/salt tolerance. The rd29A promoter has been found to couple effectively with DREB1A with minimal growth hindrance or retardation in the engineered plants.
