Yeast-Optimized Chicken Lysozyme (LysA) Secretor
Our device can be transformed into yeast for the production of mammalian lysozyme. It consists of a GAL1 promoter, the LysA gene linked to a yeast-optimized albumin signal peptide, and a Cyc1 terminator. Chicken lysozyme (LysA) has been shown to have high catalytic activity against gram-positive bacteria, hydrolyzing the peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell wall. The albumin signal peptide is optimized for lytic enzyme secretion in yeast expression hosts. By granting ethanologens, like yeast, the ability to secrete lysozyme, this part can be used to simultaneously decontaminate broths while carrying out fermentation.
