alkB1 (alkane-1-monooxygenase)
AlkB1 makes alkane-1-monoxygenase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the reaction below.
alkane + reduced rubredoxin + O2 => 1-alkanol + oxidized rubredoxin + H2O
This reaction is the first step in crude oil breakdown, in which alkanes are converted to their respective alkanol compounds.
