ctfA Gene Sequence
This part is the ctfA gene, or butyrate-acetoacetate COA-transferase subunit A, that is used as part of a metabolic pathway in Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824 bacteria to produce acetone. We are aiming to use this gene, along with several others, to eventually produce acetone and CO2 in E.coli bacteria. This part, along with ctfB, produces acetoacetate, acetyl-CoA, and butyryl-CoA, which are the penultimate products of the C. acetobutylicum acetone pathway before the final product, acetone.
