alkane-activated ranscription factor for alkB promoter
This is a coding sequence for the protein alkS. AlkS acts as a transcription activator for the alkB promoter. In the presence of alkanes and also dicycloproplylketone (DCPK), alkS becomes activated and can bind to the alkB operator sequence, allowing for transcription to occur or generating a PoPS signal.
