NADH-dependent butanol dehydrogenase B (bdhB/BDH II)
This homodimer belongs to the iron-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family for alcohol metabolism; butanol biosynthesis. Butanol dehydrogenase catalyzes the final reaction in the formation of butanol. NADH-dependent butanol dehydrogenase is a product of the bdhB gene of Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824. While bdhB is primarily NADH-dependent, some activity with NADPH was observed. [Walter et al. (1992), Noelling et al. (2001), Peterson et al. (1991)]
