Thiamine Binding Protein (TBP)
The Thiamine-Binding Protein is coded for by a 981bpgene (THiT) that comes from the E. coli bacteria. The membrane thiamine-binding protein is optimized for E. coli and has a gene ID of 88096. Thiamine-binding protein plays a crucial role in the thiamine transport system by binding the thiamine molecule. It binds thiamine at a Kd of 170 nM when the optimum pH is at 5.0. The thiamine-binding protein also transports thiamine with a Km of 180 nM.
