Beta-glucuronidase (uidA) inducible generator
This part contains the beta-glucuronidase (uidA) enzyme from E. coli under the control of an IPTG inducible promoter.
Usage and Biology
The uidA gene encodes for the <beta>-D-glucuronidase enzyme most commonly known for its use in the Gus assay. It is also known as the gusA gene and has numerous homologous in various bacterial and plant species. It has specific activity against glucuronoside linked to a variety of other components. This is commonly used with substrates such as X-Gluc, or PNPG (p-nitrophenol-glucuronoside) which is the substrate our team has used to characterize its activity electrochemically. See our experience page for more information on its characterization.
