Engineered red fluorescent protein that modulates its fluorescence in response to changes in calcium ion (Ca2+) concentration.

The R-GECO protein, which is engineered by Robert E. Campbell, is available from Addgene.org, a non-profit plasmid sharing service. The permission to make this protein into a BioBrick was granted by both Robert E. Campbell and Addgene.org. Therefore, our special thanks goes to the associate professor and service for making the preparation of this BioBrick possible.

Additionally, as we recently noticed, the BioBrick we have sent to the Registry is restricted due to the use of the wrong kind of restriction enzymes. Therefore, this BioBrick will be inactive when it is ordered and used as such. At this very moment, we are working on a correct version of our BioBrick.
