ScyC generator
Our research has focused onnovel biosynthetic pathways for UV-protectant compounds found in two distinct algal species. One leading to the production of the unrelated UV-screening compound scytonemin was cloned from Nostoc punctiforme. ScyC (NpR1276) is a protein of unknown function which converts the ketoacid generated by ScyA into an indole compound which spontaneously dimerizes to form scytonemin.
This part includes a modified constitutive lac promoter (lacP'), and RBS and the open reading frame of scyC. This part can be used to express ScyC protein in E. coli.
