mamJ, from Magnetospirillum magneticum

This part is gene mamJ, which were extracted from the genome of Magnetospirillum magneticum strain AMB-1 by [http://2011.igem.org/Team:Washington UW iGEM Team 2011].

Usage and Biology

The gene number is AMB0964 and it has a length of 1521bp. This gene is important for proper magnetosome chain organization/assembly.

Below is the gel image of mamJ.

The repetitive region in the middle of the mamJ sequence made it tricky to verify, we turned to the Komeili lab for help, and we were suggested to use CGGTGTCCGTCTCCGA as the primer to verify the middle part of J sequence.

We also tried to fuse mamJ with fluorescent proteins on 1A3 backbone, although we could not verify the sequences, we observed some interesting expressions at the interesting images below.
