Name: pvc10
Base Pairs: 426bp
Origin: Photorhabdus
Properties: Pvc10 is a part of pvc spike.

Usage and Biology

Photorhabdus virulence cassette (PVC) is one group of extracellular Contractile injection systems (CISs) that are cell-puncturing nanodevices for targeted delivery of proteins .[1]Structurally similar to other CISs, PVCs are also macromolecular complexes containing a rigid tube structure housed in a contractile sheath, which is anchored to a baseplate and sharpened by a spike protein.[2](Figure1)

Figure 1. Schematic of the PVCpnf locus. It contains 16 structural and accessory genes , followed by two payload genes (Pdp1 and Pnf, in red) and four putative regulatory genes (in pink).

A part of the simplified architecture of T4 phage baseplate lying in the PVC syringe with PVC5, PVC7 and PVC8.
Pvc10 and Pvc13 were not sufficiently resolved for atomic modeling.
It may be different from the wild-type part.
