Enhancing the speed and accuracy of cell translation in high saline environments.
mnmA is a tRNA-specific 2-thiouridinase-encoding gene that coordinates bacterial adaptation to saline and alkaline adversity by regulating the rate and accuracy of cellular translation in hypersaline environments and by participating in intracellular protein biosynthesis processes. It is used to improve the saline tolerance of a wide range of microorganisms, especially model organisms, thus enabling them to adapt to industrial production conditions in highly saline environments.
