Hyperfolder Yellow Fluorescent Protein (hfYFP)
Coding sequence for hyperfolder yellow fluorescent protein (hfYFP). Engineered from Aequorea Victoria by Campbell et al. (2022).
The sequence has been codon optimized by the 2023 UBC-Okanagan team for expression in the gram-positive model organism, Bacillus Subtilis.
Usage and Biology
hfYFP is engineered to be a stable fluorescent protein that can survive conditions that are able to denature most biological proteins, for instance, exposure to chaotropic conditions (disruption of H-bonds), to chloride, and tolerates aldehyde and osmium tetraoxide fixation. This enables the use of electron microscopies (Campbell et al. 2022).
