This part is a terephthalic acid (TPA) detection device. The TPA-transport system (tphC, tpiB, tpiA) and regulator (TphR) for the TPA-inducible promoter from Comamonas testosteroni are constitutively expressed. The reporter, eiraCFP, is under regulation by P_tph, the TPA-inducible promoter that is activated by TPA-bound TphR.
