KaiBC promoter (PkaiBC)
PkaiBC is an output promoter of the internal rhythm of Synechococcus elongatus PCC7942.In the rhythm system of PCC7942, KaiC protein is continuously phosphorylated during the day and binds to SasA, which continuously enhances the promotion of downstream promoter PkaiBC and reaches the highest level in the evening. At night, KaiC protein was gradually dephosphorylated, SasA was shed, and the PkaiBC promoter was inhibited. The periodic expression of PkaiBC in turn acts on KaiC, forming a stable cycle that can be maintained for up to a week even in vitro. Connecting the lux luminescent gene cluster downstream of PKaiBC allows for diurnal and nocturnal rhythmic expression of the fluorescent genes.
