HIR eGFP
The human insulin receptor is a transmembrane receptor that is activated by insulin, IGF-I, IGF-II and belongs to the large class of receptor tyrosine kinase. This receptor plays a large role in glucose homeostasis since insulin signaling controls access to blood glucose in body cells. The sequence coding for the human insulin receptor is attached to the sequence coding for enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP) at HIR's C terminus. This part can be transfected into mammalian cells, and through fluorescent microscopy, the presence of HIR can be visualized.
