Phytochelatin Synthase Optimized for Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii
Phytochelatins are a class of heavy metal binding peptides important for the chelation and sequestration of heavy metals in many types of plants. Phytochelatin synthase is a key enzyme implicated in the phytochelatin biosynthesis pathway; phytochelatin synthase catalyzes the production of phytochelatins from glutathione.
This part contains the sequence encoding phytochelatin synthase. It has been optimized for optimal transgene expression in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii through codon optimization and the insertion of introns.
