Profile
Name: GFA1
Base Pairs: 2154 bp
Origin: Saccharomyces Cerevisiae ATCC 201388
Properties: Transfer an amin group from glutamine to D-glucoseamine 6-phosphate
Usage and Biology
Glutamine--fructose-6-phosphate aminotransferase [isomerizing] (EC 2.6.1.16) is the first enzyme branching off glycolysis into the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway. It is responsible for converting fructose-6-phosphate into D-glucosamine 6-phosphate by transfer of an amine group from glutamine.
