ureEFG

Description

This part codes for the ureEFG operon from Sporosarcina pasteurii, enabling the expression of the three accessory subunits of urease enzymes.

Figure 1: ureABC operon from Sporosarcina pasteurii.

Usage and Biology

ureEFG are urease (accessory) proteins, responsible for the activation of the ureABC proenzyme. ureEFG is responsible for the transport and assembly of the nickel II center.

Figure 2: Urease assembly and maturation process (Veaudor T, 2019). Chaperones are ureDEFG proteins. ureD will assemble with ureF. Ni binding with ureE helps the ureG dimer recruitment. Final chaperons will involve in GTP hydrolysis for urease maturation.
