SULT1A1 gene for pHCA conversion in ZA

Encodes for a sulfotransferase, which transfers a sulfate group to the hydroxyl group of a phenolic group. This enzyme is needed to transform p-coumaric acid into zosteric acid. In vivo this enzyme is expressed especially in the liver, where it is implicated in the detoxification of blood and activation of pharmacological compounds.
