Tc.cytoGGPPS
Geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase is an essential enzyme in the MVA pathway in plants, through which paclitaxel is eventually synthesized. After GPP is converted into FPP, geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase converts it into GGPP, an important precursor in the MVA pathway1. We are using this gene as part of our construct to ensure that paclitaxel is synthesized in the cytosol rather than through the MEP pathway in the chloroplast, which would complicate our project by requiring us to add export tags. The amino acid sequence for this protein was run through a codon optimization program provided for maximum efficacy in soybeans.
