Part:BBa_K419012
CrtEBIY ligate on pSB1C3
The registry part BBa_K419012 is created by merging iGEM 2009 Cambridge biobrick BBa_k274200 with iGEM 2010 standard backbone pSB1C3. This biobrick belongs to the synthesis system of 2010 TzuChi_U Formosa team’s project – Nutrient synthesizer, in order to produce beta-carotene.
The genes in BBa_K419012 is crtE,B,I,Y respectively. The constitutive promoter in BBa_K419012 will drive the downstream gene crtE,B,I,Y respectively in order to convert geranylgeranyl pyroiphosphate (GPP) into beta-carotene.
iGEM Cambridge team characterize their part by defining the best absorbance ratio of a single colony. While we define our part BBa_K419012’s by measuring the beta-carotene produced by a single DH5α over a period of time. The productivity of beta-carotene per cell over six hours period is 1.425X10^-9 microgram.
