Part:BBa_K4138003
Immunity protein CMI-4AEQ
Profile
Name: Colicin-M Immunity Protein (CMI-4AEQ)
Base pairs: 294 bp
Origin: Escherichia coli K-12
Type: Immunity protein
Usage and Biology
The CMI-4AEQ protects the bacteria against its lethal bacteriocins through the co-expression of immunity proteins in the compartment of the colicin destination. [1] In E. coli , the interaction with the CMA immunity protein (CMI) inactivates colicin M (CMA). [1] We used CMI because it is a homodimer that uses phosphate ion as a ligand. [2] CMI is one component of our fusion protein VVD-CMI (BBa_K4138005).
