Shortened pRS4116
This is a plasmid from the pRS series with a URA synthesis gene with the lacZalpha functionality removed.
Usage and Biology
pRS4116 is a Yeast Centromere Plasmid that has selective markers for both ampicillin and uracil. It is a high-copy plasmid of the pRSII series from the Haase lab that can be shuttled into Escherichia coli and was used in CCA_San_Diego's 2021 Project in order to express synthetic collagen. The full pRS4116 chromosome was actually shortened to only contain around 100 bp on either side of the URA gene or the origin of replication in order to minimize size for a maximum transformation efficiency.
