Mammoglobin B Protein Coding Sequence
This part codes for Mammaglobin B This part consists of the protein-coding sequence for Mammaglobin B(MGB-2), a biomarker that is used in the detection of breast cancer. Mammaglobin-B is highly specific to mammary tissue, and has been reported to be used in the identification and detection of breast cancer. The protein-coding sequence from this part was found via NCBI but we adapted the sequence to meet iGEM registry standards by inducing silent mutations that would not affect the sequence of amino acids. We used this part to construct a plasmid that would produce Mammaglobin-B in an E.Coli system to model the conditions of the body of patients with breast cancer.
To see the application of this part, please see the following composite parts.
BBa_K3813020, BBa_K3813021, BBa_K3813022, BBa_K3813023, BBa_K3813024, BBa_K3813025, BBa_K3813026, BBa_K3813027, BBa_K3813028
We were successfully able to express the Mammaglobin-B biomarker in 8 of the 9 constructs. For the second phase of our two-year project, we plan on testing the binding affinity of Mammaglobin-B to our aptamers to better simulate situations in the human body and will hopefully use results from there to improve this part.
