Pichia pastoris Paox1
In Pichia pastoris, the regulation of Paox1 mainly occurs at the transcription level, including the repression/derepression mechanism and the methanol induction mechanism. Paox1 is strictly dependent on the induction of methanol, glucose , Fructose, glycerol, hexanol and other carbon sources inhibit the expression. In the presence of carbon sources such as glucose, the Aox activity is almost zero. When the repressive carbon source such as glucose is consumed or the concentration is extremely low, Pichia pastoris reaches a de-repressive state. But at this time, Paox1 only has an induction level of about 2-4%. Only when there is no repressive carbon source such as glucose and methanol in the medium, the Aox gene can be completely induced and expressed efficiently.
