Vp130
Vp130 is a protein taken from Chlorovirus that infects Chlorella algae. It is involved in binding to the algae surface during infection. This biobrick is just the c-terminus of vp130 with the stop codon removed; the full sequence is [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nuccore/AB112428.1 here]. Only the c-terminus was used because it has a better binding to Chlorella vulgaris, which is the strain we had access to. The stop codon was removed to allow for c-terminal fusions. By expressing a ligation of this biobrick to carrier protein biobricks like INP and OmpA, the vp130 protein would be displayed on E. Coli's surface. When mixed with the algae the bacteria would stick to it causing aggregation and flocculation.
