Periplasmic nitrate reductase C (napC) from Paracoccus denitrificans DSM 413
This gene is part of the nap operon from P. denitrificans DSM 413. Nap is the first enzyme of the denitrification pathway, converting nitrate (NO3-) into nitrite (NO2-). NapC is a tetra-heme transmembrane protein and is also considered an essential component of the electron transfer chain to NapA in organisms in which the gene is found [1].
