Codon-optimized ssr2333 (feoA) gene for Synechococcus sp. CB0101 with restriction sites removed
This construct contains the PCC6803 Synechocystis sp. strain ssr2333 (feoA) gene that has been codon optimized for the CB0101 Synechocystis sp. strain. It is part of the feo operon, which consists of feoABC. It is found before the feoB gene and after the fur box. It is known to be a transport gene for transition metal ion binding, along with feoB (which codes for an iron-permease protein). FeoA functions as a transition metal ion binding gene, and it may be of significance in the reductive uptake pathway, where Fe+3 is reduced and then transported as Fe+2.
