Gene AFP1 encoding the antimicrobial peptide Rs-AFP1.

The AFP1 gene encoding the Rs-AFP1 poly peptide which has a shown antimicrobial and fungicidal activity. It has the highest activity towards filamentous fungi. For tested microbes the half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) was ranging from 2-100ug/ml. However, when adding salt the IC50 was significantly increased [1].

The peptide has 4 disulfide bridges which may be problematic in bacterial expression.

For more information of the peptide, see Uniprot record P 69241 [2].
