cDNA encoding the protein enterokinase.
cDNA encoding the catalytic subunit of bovine enterokinase, a protease responsible for activation of trypsinogen by a highly specific cleavage of the aa-sequence Asp-Asp-Asp-Asp-Lys. The high specificity makes it an appropriate protease for cleaving fusion proteins [1].
The enterokinase light chain have been previously expressed successfully in E. coli BL21 (DE3) and was also successful in cleaving a fusion protein. Is was expressed as a fusion protein with thioredoxin A as the partner (see part BBa_K..1) [2].
