cDNA encoding the protein glutathione S-transferase (GST)
The gst gene, a protein coding sequence coding for the protein glutathione-S-transferase (GST). GST enzymes are previously known to be important for detoxication of electrophiles [1].
GST can be used in a fusion protein for higher level of protein expression and easier purification of the target protein. The fusion protein can be purified by affinity chromatography using the enzymatic activity of GST [2]
GST have been used as a fusion protein for better expression of small peptides. It can aid in folding of the peptide and increase the solubility of the expressed product. [3]
