Part:BBa_K3286280
Lambda gpD - PD1764 recombination module
This part can be used in combination with the lambda red system to insert a fusion of capsid decorator protein D and chitin binding protein PD1764 into the phage lambda genome. The function of this is to create a bacteriophage that expresses a chitin binding protein on its capsid. This could be interesting for bacteriophages that can be transported by insects. The part should be used in combination with a plasmid carrying the lambda red system, which increases recombination. Cells carrying this combination should be infected with bacteriophage lambda. A fraction of the resulting bacteriophages will carry the fusion protein gene. To select for the recombinant phages a CRISPR-Cas counterselection system can be used, either in the first step or in a separate counterselection step.
