PcopM72 Promoter
PcopM72 Is a promoter variant that is originally controls the CopMRS operon native to Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. This variant is from the original promoter PcopM. Expression is induced strongly by copper ions in the cell when using this promoter. The binding of zinc ions results in lower expression [1]. Based on the literature [1] the promoter was modified for use for a specific strength to cause autotoxicity in the cell. This was used a part of a kill switch proposed by Lethbridge iGEM 2019.
