NAB1

NAB1 is a RNA binding protein in photorophic organisms that specifically suppress the translation of light harvesting antenna proteins [1,2]. These light antenna change in size in order to efficiently capture more light for energy. This part is designed to be expressed in Chlamydomonas reinhardtti to cause a decrease in antenna size. Studies have shown that more light is needed for growth[1,2]. This construct is a control construct for our antisense NAB1 consruct BBa_K3237012 which is proposed to be used to allow for algal growth under lower light conditions.
