Red light sensing protein Cph8
This part is identical to I15010, but in pSB1C3. We were unable to revive I15010, or the composite part M30109. It is clear from the registry sequencing that the DNA for M30109 is not what it is supposed to be.
This part was made by PCRing out the Cph8 region from M30109. A PstI site present in the M30109 version was removed, and a ribosome binding site added.
The original work to create this protein was done by Anselm Levskaya, the Voigt lab UCSF and the Austin 2004 iGEM team. See Levskaya et al, 2005.
WARNING: Following sequencing of this part from the 2012 kit plate by Exeter 2013, results show a 100% match to a human oestrogen receptor. Caution should be taken when using this part from the plate.
